Block Party |
Welcome to Block Party! Block party is one of the staples of the Capital Quilters Guild. Every month there is at least one block for you to make and return the following month. At the meeting there is a sample of the block, directions, and usually a swatch of one or more of the fabrics to be used to complete the block. Participants can take a photo of the directions or access them on Facebook, in the newsletter, or here on the website page (limited printed copies will be available for participants.) Kits of the fabrics to be used are available for free, and participants sign up to make the block, which is then returned at the next monthly meeting. All participants who return the block the next month are entered into a drawing for the returned blocks. The winner can then use the blocks to complete a quilt or whatever else works for them. Many of these quilts are submitted to our charity quilt program, although this is not a requirement. The 2024-25 year has been deemed The Year of Fun! We plan to release blocks that will stretch our skill sets, and use of color, and are fun to make. In addition to regular pieced blocks, every other month there is a Challenge Block, which will be either machine appliqued, or paper pieced. The October block is the Scrappy Curves block. Each kit contains the fabrics to complete 2 blocks. |
