Block Party Current Year |
Welcome to Block Party! Block party is one of the staples of the Capital Quilters Guild. Every month there is at least one block for you to make and return the following month. At the meeting there is a sample of the block, directions, and sign-up sheets. Participants can take a photo of the directions or access them here on the website, on Facebook, or through links in the newsletter. Kits of the fabrics to be used are available for free, and participants sign up to make the block, which is then returned at the next monthly meeting. All participants who return the completed block the next month are entered into a drawing for the returned blocks. The winner can then use the blocks to complete a quilt, wallhanging, table-runner, or whatever else works for them. Many of these quilts are submitted to our charity quilt program, although this is not a requirement. Our March block was called Disappearing Hourglass. Our winners were Debby Femia and Ginny Nugent. We hope to see your finished quilts during show'n tell in the future! In April, we had a Sou'Wester Sue block. Each kit contained the background and all of the fabrics, except Sue's clothing, which were participants' choice. Please return all completed and uncompleted blocks and kits at the May meeting for a chance to win all the blocks. This month, May, we will have 2 kits for blocks that makeup our Cherry Season quilt - an appliqué cherries block and a pieced spinning star block. All fabrics for each block will be included in kits. We hope they make your mouths water! Rosi Hanley - BlockParty@CapitalQuilters.org |
