This month we will make a Shoo Fly block with a yellow background and a bright color from
your stash.
From the yellow background fabric:

1. Cut two (2) 4 inch squares
2. Cut four (4) 3 ½ inch squares

From your bright fabric:

1. Cut two (2) 4 inch squares
2. Cut one (1) 3 ½ inch square.

Make four (4) 3 ½ inch half-square triangles from the yellow and bright 4 inch squares.
Place the squares right sides together.
Draw a diagonal line on the wrong side of the fabric (solid line in diagram).
Sew 1/4 inch from each side of the drawn line (dotted line in diagram).
Cut the squares apart on the drawn line to get 2 half-square triangles.
Press the seam to the darker color and trim all 4 half-square triangles to 3 1/2 inches.

Layout the half-square triangles and the 3 ½ inch squares like the diagram below and
complete your block. It should measure 9 ½ inches when complete.
