This month we will make an hour glass block with a bright green bird fabric and a dark green

from your stash.

From the bright green bird fabric:
1. You have a 6 inch square
2. You have a 3 X 16 inch strip

From your dark green fabric:
1. Cut one (1) 6 inch squares
2. Cut one (1) 3 X 16 inch strip.

Make two (2) 5 ½ inch half-square triangles from the bird print and your green 6 inch
squares.
Place the squares right sides together.
Draw a diagonal line on the wrong side of the fabric (solid line in diagram).
Sew 1/4 inch from each side of the drawn line (dotted line in diagram).
Cut the squares apart on the drawn line to get 2 half-square triangles.
Press the seam to the darker color and trim both half-square triangles to 5 1/2 inches.

Sew the strips together to make a 5 ½ X 16 inch strip.
Cut the strip into 3 X 5 ½ inch rectangles.
Sew 2 rectangles together to get a 4-patch unit.
Layout the half-square triangles and the 4-patch units like the diagram below and complete your block. It should measure 10 ½ inches when complete.

Please do not square up your block. Turn in your block and your name on a
small piece of paper in at the May meeting for the drawing. Good Luck!!
